FAQs - Outdoor Walkers and Rollators
A: The short answer is 'a really good designer'. That's why we work with byACRE, Saljol, Rollz and Uplivin - brands with dedicated specialists designers.
To traverse mixed terrain, you want a wheel with a larger front tyre as a minimum. After that, you want to consider all the other aspects that we talk about in our buying guide. But it helps if it's lighter weight to lift over the ridges and bumps when you need too. It has a softer tyre to cushion the impacts. And you probably want to add a bag for you binoculars and pick axe.
A: Each of these walkers come in different sizes so the weight of a Regular size will be ever so slightly lighter than the same model in a Wide size. To make it easy as a guide, here's the walkers in the Regular size:
- byACRE Nordic Pioneer: 5.9 kg
- Saljol Aluminium 6.3kg
- byACRE Carbon Overland: 6.7 kg
- Uplivin All Terrain: 7.5kg
- Rollz Performance Walker Wheelchair: 11.6kg
But weight isn't the 'be all and end all'. Make sure you consider what you really need it for , where you're going with it, what the specifications are that would sui your level of mobility and body size.
A: Now you're thinking straight! If you're asking this, ten you know that weight is just one component to consider. You should also ask lots of other questions and also get a good understanding of what might be best for your level of mobility.
Ask yourself, 'how does it fold?' and 'is it easy to lift or is the shape awkward and chunky so it's harder to lift?' You also need to consider the specifications, like how wide the seat is, what the wheels are like, what the handle height is. Have a read of our buying guide, in there we offer some great tips to get you thinking along the right lines so you can do your research and get the right product for you.
A: Yeah, you'll be right - we haven't met a boot that didn't want to welcome one of our walkers.
